Please be aware of cold callers Some residents have reported receiving telephone calls from companies claiming to be able to reduce your council tax and offering an assessment to check their council tax band.
Please beware of up front administration fees and NEVER give out your bank details or personal information. If you'd like to check your council tax band you can do this free of charge by visiting www.gov.uk/council-tax-bands or by telephoning the Valuation Office Agency on 0300 050 1501 who can advise you on how to make a banding appeal. Please share this information, particularly amongst the elderly or vulnerable adults.

Forever Active 50
Over 50 and thinking of getting more active? Want to try a new sport, keep up with the grandchildren and get fitter?
You don’t need to be sporty or athletic to join in – in fact the less active you’ve been until now the better. Whether you’d like to have a go at traditional sports such as tennis, or something more unusual like tai chi or walking football, Freman College will have it all.
Eric Buckmaster, executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “It’s going to be a fun, friendly and active day. If you’re looking to get off the sofa and try some gentle exercise, we’ll have something for you.
“Just put on some comfortable clothes and come along and have a go. It could be the first step to a new you.” With professional coaches on hand to make sure you’re doing the right thing, refreshments and free parking, it’s not to be missed. You can drop in for any part of the day or stay for the whole event. A programme schedule will be available soon on the Forever Active East Herts website.
